In nineteenth-century Paris, the celebrated Chef Auguste Petit-Four, a Yorkshire Terrier of refined palate, was the terror of kitchen assistants. Known for his impeccable toque and the rigor with which he inspected every soufflé, Auguste believed that culinary art was the highest of the French arts.
