In Salzburg, in 1770, the master of ceremonies Johann Kappel was preparing the Marble Hall of the Mirabell Palace for yet another soirée of the archiepiscopal court. Dressed in his rigorous crimson coat, Johann observed with a blend of pride and duty a promising young musician at the start of his career, who enchanted the aristocracy with his harpsichord playing. With a keen eye and impeccable posture, Johann ensured that baroque etiquette was upheld, serving as a bridge between the young virtuoso's rebellious brilliance and the rigidity of the court.
